Monkey Puzzle Card with Valentine Monkey from Sanqunetti design

There are several new SVG cutting file release this week from Sanqunetti Design.  I picked this cheeky Valentine Monkey SVG file.

Card Base

Initially I made the 6" x 6" card base adding the Square Puzzle by Lori Whitlock from the Silhouette Design Store. This file splits into all the individual puzzle pieces and I cut two sets of puzzles, one in red and one in duck egg cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo. I then subtracted one piece from the top right of the card base before mounting the coloured pieces using the colours alternately.  


The Monkey

I made the monkey up into a card topper omitting the heart. All the remaining pieces were cut from coloured cardstock except the whites in the monkey's eyes which were drawn in with a white gel pen.  I took a copy of the cut away puzzle piece and shrank it, subtracting the shape of the monkey's paw.  This was cut from red cardstock and added to the monkey with a dimensional foam pad.


I love changing up files like this.  The monkey could hold any small item and be used for all kinds of occasions - not just for Valentine's.

You Rock Card - using FREE design of the week

Hiya, here's another quick card using this week's free design of the week in the Silhouette store You Rock! Flat Card: Design id#148162).

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Silhouette Cameo/Portrait
Silhouette Printable Silver Foil
Blue Pearlised Paper or Cardstock
Black Heavyweight Cardstock
Black Coated Cardstock 
Card Adhesive

Here are my construction steps:

• Make a rounded-edged square card blank in black heavy-weight black cardstock in the Silhouette Design software.
• Adhere a smaller rounded square cut in blue pearlised paper.
• In the software ungroup and re-arrange the elements to fit the blue square.
• Duplicate the sentiment and weld one copy. 
• Cut out the welded version of the sentiment in printable silver foil together with the small decorative elements.
• Cut out the smaller sentiment in coated black cardstock.
• Transfer the foil items to the card (I used vinyl transfer paper) .
• Adhere the black sentiment pieces on top.
• Card complete! 

This would be a great congratulations or birthday card for a teen or young-at-heart adult. Change out the colours or materials for a very different look.

Iron gates with heat embossing

I love the metallic looks you can achieve using embossing powders.

This card was made using the WOW! brand embossing powders and all items were cut files, or print and cuts from the Silhouette Online Store and made on my Silhouette Cameo digital cutter.


 

The iron gate, cut on my Silhouette Cameo from a design by Jennifer Wambach, was heat embossed three times using WOW! Primary Ebony Regular embossing powder. The finished gate had a great tactile quality.

The snowdrop embellishment, also designed by Jennifer, was miniaturised  (top right on the card) and 'enamelled' with WOW! Clear Gloss embossing powder to make a badge.

I'm just wandering what else I can 'iron-ize'!

Update: I was very happy to win our Silhouette Cameo FB page's Charity Card Challenge with this card. All the cards in the challenge were donated to Maggie's Cancer Centre in Aberdeen.  The goodies from Graphtec GB (UK distributors for Silhouette digital cutting machines) and That Craft Place (UK FB shop) were great!

From the number of sources listed below you can see that I take bits and pieces from all over - in fact you could call me a digital bin-diver!

This was my first composite greetings card, and was pleased (make that overjoyed) to be placed in our Silhouette Cameo FB page's Winter Card Challenge. The goodies from Graphtec GB (UK distributors for Silhouette digital cutting machines) and Creative Products (UK distributors for Beacon's glue) weren't too shabby either!
