Printing Custom Cards in Silhouette Studio

Hiya.

Over on the Silhouette UK Blog today I have a tutorial for making and printing quick, custom cards in the Silhouette Studio® software.

A batch of cards can be made super fast by printing from the Silhouette software onto pre-made card blanks. I've used some hand-painted baubles (painted by my daughter) and quickly turned them into a set of Christmas cards.  I've refined the water-coloured baubles in the Silhouette software and added sentiments from the Silhouette Design Store by Skyla Design. The tutorial shows how to make them for yourself.

Using this method you can be reproduce a whole batch of cards in minutes - perfect for your last minute Christmas cards!

New Digital Papers

Hello,

Do you use digital papers and elements in your Silhouette projects? I LOVE them and especially love using the digital papers in the Silhouette Studio® software.  It is great to be able to add papers to the library and to rescale the patterns to suit my projects. 

I was very excited to see that Snap Click Supply Co. had digital files available from a new designer last week; Down This Road - Designs by Angie.

Aren't they fabulous? I love that they come with the solid papers too - a ready-made colour pallet.

Here is the first set I've downloaded, sitting in my (pre-cloud) Library.

Here I'm preparing a colour swatch, colour-picking extra colours from one of the pattered papers. I save the swatches in the 'My Own Designs' folder in the library.  I can then open the swatch directly into my project and recolour just about any design to match my digital papers.

I'll be sharing some completed projects that I make with these papers soon. Promise.

Cardmaking Basics - Shaker Cards

I can't count the number of shaker cards I've made - it must run to hundreds! I think they look great, it's fun to set the shaker elements into motion and some made a lovely noise too!   I've been sharing a heap of  tips for making shaker cards recently on the Silhouette UK Blog in a two-parter. This is just part of a series of posts on cardmaking basics over on the blog.

The first post deals with the 'ingredients' and looks at alternative ways of constructing shaker cards. The second includes detailed step-by-step tutorials on constructing the two cards seen in these pictures. Do pop over and have a read whether you are an experienced 'shaker-maker' or if you've yet to try one out.  The principles can be applied to almost any design and occasion.

Make Custom Shaped Cards

I have new cardmaking tutorial over on the Silhouette UK Blog this weekend. I provide step-by-step instructions on how to make a custom shaped card.

The basis of the card shape is an existing design from which I make an offset piece to mount the design on, and a left-folding card base.

For this I used the Happy Fish design by Jennifer Wambach, but this technique can be used to make cards of almost any shape.
